THE NINE

(Judith F, Allyson KD,Anne FT, Angela G, Zonya L, Adee D, Allen RL, Will S, Ben R)

You will have to record TWO videos.

Video #1: Starts at the downbeat of the song and ends at measure 83.

  • Set yourself up in a window or an open space with light.

  • You should give yourself an activity to be doing (reading a book, cleaning, putting on makeup etc) after you clap and the music starts.

**NOTE: The focus of this entire section should not be directly into the camera, but focused out of the window towards the light the entire time until you stop singing at measure 86 (also note the track plays until measure 88)

MEASURES 1 - 65

-Start the demo provided and CLAP on the DOWNBEAT of the song AFTER the 4 clicks and start doing your activity.

-When you hear Crystal’s first “Hope, Inspire, Transform” change your focus on the “-form” of

“Transform” and move closer to the camera (ie:”closer to the light”).

-Sing when you are supposed to sing and keep engaged when you aren’t singing. (details in video)

TIP: In the 22 bar section starting at measure 19, if you start counting 1 on the next bar after Crystal sings “....just wait and see, you can be free, yeah” you would count 3 8’s and a 5 before you come in with your “Hope, Inspire, Transform” on the second beat of measure 41.

MEASURES 66 - 85

The only slightly choreographed section starts at the key change at measure 66. The “Do you wanna clap your hands” section. This section should have a little more energy.

-Clap on the “hands” of your “do you wanna clap you hands” (which happens to be on the 2 of that bar) and clap again on the 4 of that bar and the 2 and 4 of the next bar. (You don’t necessarily have to clap on the 2 and 4 but just start on the 2. I actually do a “church clap” in the video the second time around.)

-On the “do” of “do you wanna do your dance”, do a little “dance”.

-On the “raise” of “do you wanna raise your voice”, raise both of your hands right below your face (don’t block the camera!) and raise one or both hands until you sing the “just” of “just wait and see”

Video #2: Starts at measure 84 until the end of the song

You should be set up outside at this point. Try to pick someplace where you are far enough from other people to feel safe. We would love to see “vastness” if it’s possible(a park, a beach etc:) If it’s possible to have someone record you, that would probably be helpful but not necessary. The words that come to mind during this section are: JOY, EXPANSE, FREEDOM, LIGHT and these words should inform your movement. Taking it all in. Receiving the light. Don’t be afraid to play with camera angles or having the person recording you move around. Be CREATIVE. (PLEASE refer to the video if you have any questions.)

MEASURES 84 - 87

-Start the demo provided and CLAP on the FOURTH CLICK. ***You DO NOT SING until you join singing with choir with the “Hope, Inspire, Transform on the third beat of measure 86!!***

MEASURES 88 - 99

-Sing as written including the add-on section at measure 92. Altos and Sopranos just bop until you join in.

MEASURES 100 - end

-Sing the top three lines until the end. (Starting with “There is wisdom, there is love......” on the second beat of measure 100)

- At measure 115, start to lift your right arm slowly on the word “hope” on the second beat and finish the song with your arm up and focus looking up, right past your hand.
