GENERAL VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS

Please record horizontally, not vertically, as if doing a self tape.

  • Please record from the chest or waist up; see [the photo on the Members Site or include photo here] for framing guidelines. Make sure you are in the center of the frame, with some space on either side of you.

  • IF project requires movement:

    • Do your best to stay in the center of the frame, with some space on either side of you.

    • If you need to change location during your shoot, we suggest you record your video with your larger device and listen to the track on your smaller, most portable device, so that you can put it in a pocket for the movement.

    • In terms of sound quality, the audio from your video may or may not be used.  It is more for syncing purposes. BUT you MUST say the right words, sing the right vowel, do all the right entrances and cut offs.

  • The track will start with 4 clicks, please do an audible soft hand clap on beat 4 of the click (the “4” before the downbeat of the music). This lets the engineers know where the track starts in our videos.

  • For all video takes, please record using the full track from the top (which may or may not be the top of the song), with the soft hand clap on beat 4 of the click, so the mixers can easily align all the video. Sometimes this may mean you are standing and waiting before starting your movement.

  • PLEASE ALSO CHECK THE MEMBERS SITE FOR PROJECT-SPECIFIC CHOREOGRAPHY.

  • Suggestions for video recording while watching a conductor video: If you record from your computer using PhotoBooth, you can record and watch on the same device easily. What's compromised is maybe if phone sound quality is better. Another option is to import the conducting video into Garageband - so that plays while you record your audio into Garageband, and your video into Quicktime.
